Kierland Commons
Unique architecture and planning of public spaces evoke a “main street” ambiance unlike any in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Carefully developed design guidelines ensure continuity of quality at the Commons while encouraging a customized storefront for each tenant.
The initial planning of Kierland Commons began in 1994. Phase I infrastructure was launched in the third quarter of 1998 and was completed in May 2000. Morton’s of Chicago opened a 230-seat restaurant in January 1999. P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, one of the country’s most successful and progressive Chinese restaurants, opened a 210-seat restaurant in June 1999. The retail and office components of the project were built in four phases beginning in 2000 and completed in 2005. Phase I of The Plaza Lofts, which total approximately 233,000 square feet of residential condominiums above the retail on Main Street, opened in April 2005. The first phase of 30 condominium units sold out in 30 days. Residents began moving in during 2005. An additional 54 units began sales in March 2006, and construction began that July. Phase II was completed in summer 2008. Woodbine sold majority interest in Kierland Commons in 2011.
