Purchased from AMFAC in 1986, Hyatt Regency DFW originally consisted of 1,369 guest rooms in two towers on each side of the International Parkway, the main north/south artery of the airport. The West Tower, which opened in 1974 as Airport Marina Hotel, was bought and demolished by the airport in October 2001 to make way for the Grand Hyatt DFW (opened in 2005.) The East Tower and Bear Creek Golf Club, names AMFAC Hotel Resort prior to their conversion to a Hyatt in 1987, were opened in 1980. In 2006, the golf club was sold to an affiliate of CNL Income Properties and is now operated by Billy Casper Golf. A renovation of Hyatt Regency DFW’s public spaces was completed in 205. Renovation of the 811 guest rooms and suites began in 2006.
