Woodbine developed this 546-acre resort and golf destination, laying claim to commanding views of the Texas Hill Country and downtown San Antonio.
Said to be “carved from legends,” the project was born out of a relationship between Woodbine and USAA, which began in 1995. That year, USAA’s La Cantera Development Company engaged Woodbine to develop a $6 million clubhouse at San Antonio’s La Cantera Golf Club in time for the 1996 Texas Open golf tournament. The two companies later joined forces with Starwood to bring to life The Westin La Cantera Resort (now La Cantera Resort & Spa). Once the award-winning resort was completed, Woodbine served as the property’s asset manager before selling its interest to USAA in 1999.
